Cafeína is located in the prestigious and affluent neighborhood of Foz do Douro, commonly referred to as La Foz, in the western part of Porto adjacent to the mouth of the Douro River and the Atlantic Ocean. La Foz is just 6 km. from the Praça da Ribeira and can be reached by taxi in about 15 minutes. It’s such a nice area that you may want to consider arriving early and enjoying a stroll along the waterfront before settling in for dinner at the restaurant.
Cafeína is housed in a very charming early 20th C. manor house that is cozy and intimate, with a cosmopolitan vibe. After nearly 20 years it continues to be recognized as a high quality restaurant that attracts a very trendy and fashionable crowd of discerning diners.
The menu has a good selection of classic dishes, such as Bacalhau à Dilma (codfish), which was first served to the President of Brazil, Tornedó Wellington (steak Wellington), and Camarão Tigre Flamejado (flame grilled Tiger prawns). They also offer a wide selection of appetizers (such as tuna carpaccio and cod crepes), salads, pasta entrees (pappardelle with asparagus, egg and crispy ham) and egg dishes (eggs with foie gras and caramelized onions). For dessert there is a selection of cakes, tarts, pies, crepes, ice cream and sorbets, so it’s best to leave some room to end with something sweet.
