Get to know Lisbon on this walking tour that goes beyond the places visited on other tours. On this 4 hour walking tour you will explore one of Lisbon’s hippest neighborhoods, sample the local favorite pastry, snack on some local cheese and wine, have a beer, take a ferry ride to the other side of the Tagus river, and enjoy a seafood lunch.
Begin by exploring the eclectic, multi-cultural Mouraria district, the former Moorish quarter. Today it is a vibrant neighborhood filled with narrow streets, tiled façades, traditional taverns and walls adorned with urban art. During your stroll through the Mouraria you will stop at a hidden bakery to enjoy a traditional pastry accompanied by an espresso. Along the way your guide will tell you about the city’s history, the devastating earthquake of 1755, point out some historic landmarks, and stop for a break to sample some local cheese with marmalade and Port wine. Continuing on you will make your way through the bustling Baixa and Chiado neighborhoods to one of the city’s beautiful viewpoints, where you can take in the panoramic views while enjoying a refreshing local beer.
Next you will make your way to the Cais do Sodre terminal to board a ferry for a short ride across the Tagus River to the village of Cacilhas. The picturesque village is known for its traditional Portuguese restaurants and fresh seafood. Relax and enjoy a traditional seafood lunch with a glass of Portuguese vinho verde (green wine) before boarding the ferry back to the Lisbon ferry terminal.
