This 4-star parador is a 12th C. castle that was built on the foundation of a fortress that dates back to the 5th C. and was later strengthened by the Moors in the 8th C. The Christians took possession of the castle in the 12th C. when they overthrew the Moors, and built an Episcopal palace inside the enclosure of the castle. The interior is decorated in traditional Castilian style, with features including suits of armor, rooms with canopy beds, wooden balconies, a cobblestone courtyard, and a large lounge that once served as the castle’s original dining room.
